HSHS Social Science Teacher, Alexa Damerell and students Connor Anderson, Uvejs Jakupi, Sam Nauman and Taylor Rowe had the opportunity to attend Senator Tom Bennett's Youth Advisory Council in Pontiac, Illinois on Wednesday, October 2nd. They joined others from across the 53rd Senate District to learn more about state government from a hands-on approach. They were able to hear from leaders at the state and local levels, to learn why these people chose their careers, and to learn how to become more involved in government to make a difference. The group will go to Springfield to attend the next Youth Advisory Council in the Spring at the State Capitol Building. .
