Congratulations to Nakeita Kessling. Nakeita was named the 2021 NewsTribune Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year. During the 2020-2021 school year, Nakeita was a member of the Cross Country, Basketball, Volleyball, and Track teams. In last month's IHSA 1A State Track Meet, Nakeita finished with a pair of top 5 state medals, finishing 5th in the 400 meter run and 4th in the long jump.

Six girls competed in five events at the 1A IHSA State Track Meet on Thursday, June 10th at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois: Daphaney Kessling, Nadia Kessling, Nakeita Kessling, Laney Lester, and Jersey Johnson. Nakeita Kessling placed 4th in the Long Jump and 5th in the 400 Meter Dash. Congrats to Nakeita and congrats to all of our IHSA State Qualifiers. We are proud of you!

Congratulations to the following athletes for qualifying to the IHSA State Track & Field meet. Henry-Senachwine junior Nakeita Kessling moved on to state in three events as she won the long jump, finished second in the 400 and ran on the team's winning 4x400 relay team. Henry-Senachwine sophomore Laney Lester moved on to state in two events as she finished second in both the shot put and discus events. The 4x400 relay team of Daphaney Kessling (Freshman), Jersey Johnson (Freshman), Nadia Kessling (Senior), and Nakeita Kessling (Junior) won the 1A Tremont Sectional advancing to the IHSA State Track meet with a time of 4:25.72. We would like to congratulate these ladies on their accomplishments and wish them luck as they compete at Eastern Illinois University on Thursday, June 10th!

Congratulations to our Girls Track Team for winning the meet against Roanoke-Benson and Lowpoint-Washburn. Great job ladies. Congratulations also to Laney Lester. Laney broke the school discus record that she previously broke earlier this season. The school discus record is now set at 121 feet, 11 inches.
