HSHS Families,
We are happy to announce that due to our region's movement to Tier 1 mitigations, we will once again be able to offer Illinois High School Association (IHSA) sport activities for all HSHS students regardless of learning method (In-person or Remote). PLEASE NOTE, THE INFORMATION BELOW IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME DEPENDING ON DIRECTIVES FROM THE IDPH, CDC, AND IHSA.
Currently, Basketball, Boys and Girls, is in season at HSHS. Basketball falls under the High Risk Sport category. This means:
Athletes must be meeting all eligibility requirements
Academic compliance
Up-to-date Sports Physical
Athletic Registration completed (See website under Athletics link)
Tier 1 waiver signed and submitted
District waiver and routine paperwork signed and submitted
Practices can be held
Intrasquad scrimmages can be held
No contests may be conducted
Health monitoring will still be completed by parents and coaches
Locker rooms will not be available
Masks must be worn
Sharing of water is prohibited and water fountains will not be available (Athletes should bring their own water to practice)
Please note, this is subject to change and it is rumored to be changing as early as next week.

Additionally, HSHS sports/activities that are not in season, may conduct open gyms/workouts beginning Monday, January 25th. As for now, athletes in Baseball, Cheer, Dance, and Volleyball will be participating in open gyms/workouts. This means:

As a reminder, please continue to conduct symptom screenings and temperature checks of your students. If your student is sick or displaying COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them at home and please make sure to contact the school.
As this is an ever evolving situation, we need to remain flexible and patient. Schedules may change due to changing circumstances, but we at HSHS are excited to be able to once again offer our students the opportunity to compete in our extracurricular activities.
