Uvejs Jakupi, the son of Sehar and Fatmire Jakupi, has been named the September Student of the month at Henry-Senachwine High School. Uvejs was selected from a group of students nominated by the faculty. The selection committee consists of high school teachers and the principal.
Currently a senior at HSHS, Uvejs is very involved in school and student life. Uvejs has been a High Honor Roll student for three years and a National Honor Society member for two years. He was nominated for the Spring 2026 academic breakfast. He has participated in Mallard Athletic Club four years; Student Council three years; HSHS Gives Back three years; Prom Committee one year; and MDWAP three years. Additionally, he has competed in Track and Field for four years and served on State Senator Thomas M. Bennett’s Youth Advisory Council.
After high school, Uvejs plans to attend Bradley University to acquire a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the school board meeting, Uvejs will be presented with an engraved pen set from the Henry-Senachwine Education Association and a personalized plaque from the district designating him as "Student of the Month." In addition, he will receive a $25.00 gift certificate from Heartland Bank in Henry and a $25.00 gift card from MidAmerica National Bank in Henry.
