Brooklynn Thompson, the daughter of Dan and Melissa Thompson, has been named the January Student of the month at Henry-Senachwine High School. Brooklynn was selected from a group of students nominated by the faculty. The selection committee consists of high school teachers and the principal.

Currently a senior at HSHS, Brooklynn is very involved in the school and student life. Brooklynn has been a High Honor Roll student for four years, Illinois State Scholar, National Honor Society member, Academic All-Conference, Two-time FBLA State Leadership Convention Top-10 Finalist in Public Speaking, HSHS Class of 2026 attendee at the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar, and is a peer tutor for all subjects at HSHS. She has participated in Art Club two years; Class of 2026 President four years; Cooking Club two years; FBLA four years, President last year and Co-President this year; FCA four years; HSHS Giving Back four years; Kindness Club one year; MAC four years, Co-President two years; Math Team four years; MDWAP four years; Scholastic Bowl three years; Student Council four years, Vice President last year and President this year; and Yearbook Club four years. She has participated in Volleyball for four years at HSHS and club Volleyball for three years, Basketball for four years, Cheerleading for four years, and Softball for four years.   

Outside of school, Brooklynn has logged 295+ volunteer hours and is involved with River Valley Players, Vacation Bible School, Marshall-Putnam Fair, Ronald McDonald House, Ohio Fire Department, Henry Rotary, Henry Chamber of Commerce, The A.R.K. Animal Shelter, Knights of Columbus, Henry Summer Rec, Henry Grade School, along with many others. Brooklynn also worked as a lifeguard at the Henry Public Pool the last two summers. 

After high school, Brooklynn plans to attend the University of Iowa to double major in Business and Creative Writing with the goal of becoming a corporate attorney. 

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the school board meeting, Brooklynn will be presented with an engraved pen set from the Henry-Senachwine Education Association and a personalized plaque from the district designating her as "Student of the Month." In addition, she will receive a $25.00 gift certificate from Heartland Bank in Henry and a $25.00 gift card from MidAmerica National Bank in Henry.

The student body, faculty, and community congratulate Brooklynn on receiving this honor in recognition of her accomplishments and contributions at HSHS!
