S Nauman Dec SOM

Samantha Nauman, the daughter of Ben and Jen Nauman, has been named the December Student of the month at Henry-Senachwine High School. Sam was selected from a group of students nominated by the faculty. The selection committee consists of several high school teachers and the principal.

Currently a junior at HSHS, Sam is very involved in the school and student life. Sam has been a High Honor Roll student for two years, Academic All-Conference, and received an Academic Excellence award from Miss Damerell. She has participated in Art Club, two years; Cooking Club, one year; FBLA, three years; HSHS Gives Back, two years; Kindness Quack Pack, one year; MAC, three years; MDWAP, two years; Robotics, three years; and Yearbook, secretary two years.  Sam is the President of the Class of 2027, two years and Vice President of Student Council, three years. She has participated in Track and L-P/Henry Co-op Swimming, being a two time State medalist.

Outside of school, Sam is involved with the 4-H Club, Illinois Valley YMCA swim club, and teaching swim lessons for 3 years.

After high school, Sam plans to continue swimming at the collegiate level and to pursue a degree in Engineering.

On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the school board meeting, Sam will be presented with an engraved pen set from the Henry-Senachwine Education Association and a personalized plaque from the district designating her as "Student of the Month." In addition, she will receive a $25.00 gift certificate from Heartland Bank in Henry and a $25.00 gift card from MidAmerica National Bank in Henry.
