On Saturday, April 13, 2024, the Henry-Senachwine High School choirs attended the Illinois High School Association Organization Music Contest at Princeton, Illinois at Princeton High School.  

Henry-Senachwine was represented by the HSHS Concert Choir, Show Choir and Mallard Ensemble (Jazz Choir) at the 2024 State competition!   The three choirs were judged by a panel of three IHSA certified choral judges. 

All three choirs were awarded First Place (Superior) Ratings for their performances at the 2024 State Contest!  

Mr. Robert Eckert, HSHS Choral Director, was extremely proud of his choral students who gave stellar efforts in all three groups performances!   Mr. Eckert commented, “that all three choral groups represented our school district with excellence and distinction at the State Organization Contest!” 

HSHS Music Department Ranks Fourth in State IHSA Class D

The IHSA State Music Sweepstakes competition is now complete for 2024.  The final rankings have been released with the top twenty-five in each of the five classes, AA, A, B, C and D. 

Henry-Senachwine High School Music Department (Band and Choir) secured their place in the top five of Class D (0 – 186 students) where they were awarded Fourth Place in the State of Illinois for the 2024 Music Sweepstakes Competition.  

The listing of the top five Class D School Music Departments is as follows: 1st – Stockton HS, 2nd – Hanover (River Ridge) HS, 3rd – Milledgeville HS, 4th – Henry-Senachwine HS and 5th – Broadland (Heritage) HS.    

The IHSA State Music Contest is decided by sweepstakes points earned through IHSA State Solo and Ensemble Contest and IHSA Organization Music Contest. 

Henry-Senachwine High School and our community are very proud of the Band and Choir students and their directors, Eliot Driver, Band Director and Robert Eckert, Choral Director for the outstanding efforts and awesome results in this year’s IHSA State Music competition!     

Special Commendation Given by IHSA to HSHS Show Choir 

The day following the Illinois High School Association 2024 State Organization Music Contest, Mr. Robert Eckert, Choral Director at Henry-Senachwine High School, was contacted by an IHSA representative of an award earned by one of the HSHS choir’s the day before when they performed at the 2024 IHSA State Organization Music Contest! 

This award is given to a selected choir by the panel of Judges at the IHSA contest held at Princeton High School on Saturday, April 13. 

The award states: This Certificate Is Proudly Presented to Henry-Senachwine High School Show Choir in Recognition of The Most Superior Musical Performance Heard This Day by A Judge.  

Students who performed in the HSHS Show Choir for the State IHSA Organization Music Contest were; Olivia Bergfeld, Bobby Gaspardo, Bella Gaspardo, Isabelle Knuckey, Taylor Rowe, Danika Maddex, Bella Hall, Emma Kay Gaspardo, Alexis Rowe and Harper Warner!
