MacKenzie Hartwig has been named the October Student of the Month at Henry-Senachwine High School. MacKenzie was selected from a group of students nominated and selected by the faculty and staff. She is the daughter of Chad and Kimberly Hartwig.

MacKenzie plans to attend OSF St. Francis Medical Center College of Nursing to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has already been accepted into the Early High School program. She aspires to be an Advanced Practice Nurse focusing in Sports Medicine. 

MacKenzie is a senior at HSHS and is very involved in the school as well as student life. She has been a High Honor Roll student all three years at HSHS and is a National Honor Society member. She has also been Academic All-Conference for the past three years. MacKenzie has been accepted into the Early High School Bachelor of Science program at St. Francis Medical Center College of Nursing. 

MacKenzie has been a Student Council member all four years and is currently serving as the President. She has been the President of the Class of 2024 all four years. She has also participated in FBLA, FCA, FCCLA, HSHS Giving Back, Math Team, LMAC, MAC (co-president this year), Red Krush, Relay for Life (president last year). MacKenzie is a member of Cheerleading, Dance Team, Softball, and Volleyball while attending HSHS.

Outside of school, MacKenzie has volunteered with the following: shaking cans for St. Jude runners and the Salvation Army; helping Red Stocking organize Christmas presents and pack Food Pantry baskets; washing Ohio Fire Department trucks; summer school tutoring; serving meals at River Valley Player dinner shows and Henry Chamber of Commerce dinners; selling tickets at Marshall-Putnam Fair family night; working  at Choose Joy and Extra Love events; and the organization of Hoops for Homes last year which raised $6743.95.

On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the meeting of the Henry-Senachwine Board of Education, MacKenzie will be presented with an engraved pen set from the Henry-Senachwine Education Association and a personalized plaque from the school district designating her as "October Student of the Month." In addition, she will receive a $25.00 gift certificate from Heartland Bank in Henry and a $25.00 gift card from MidAmerica National Bank in Henry.
