HSHS Renovations & Academic Wing Addition
Start of the 2026-2027 School Year

August 11, 2026

Dear Henry-Senachwine School District Families & Staff:

As a reminder, school will begin at both HSHS and HSGS/JH next week, with Teacher Institute days scheduled for August 17th and 18th. The first day for students is Wednesday, August 19th.

Today, the Regional Office of Education authorized occupancy of the Henry-Senachwine High School addition. The following progress on the HSHS addition has been made over the past few weeks:

• Installed, sanded, stained the new gym floor

• Painted and installed grid ceilings in the cafeteria and kitchen areas

• Installed footings and foundations for the new corridor and vestibule

• Prepped and poured the floor for the new corridor and vestibule

• Installed steel bar joist and deck for the new corridor and vestibule

• Prepped the high school office for new furniture

• Installed brick in the courtyard

• Installed masonry wall, flooring, brick walls, steel columns, & HVAC ducts in the new corridor vestibule

At HSHS, the high school office and the gymnasium will still be under construction and will not accessible to start the school year. The gymnasium is scheduled to be completed on September 14th and the high school office and new vestibule are scheduled to be completed in late September/early October. The cafeteria, foyer area, and north parking lot will be completed this week. In the coming days, additional information will be shared related to accessing the HSHS campus and building for the start of the school year.

Once the HSHS office, vestibule, and gymnasium have been completed, an Open House will be scheduled to allow the community an opportunity to tour the fully completed HSHS addition and renovated spaces.

The District will provide progress updates on the high school academic wing addition and renovation work on its website at www.hscud5.org, under tab ‘Master Facility Planning”. You can also click this link for access to the updates.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Miller
