Henry-Senachwine High School once again demonstrated the power of student leadership and community generosity through a recent philanthropy event organized by HSHS Gives Back in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois.
The week-long effort, known as HOPE Week, featured a variety of engaging activities designed to bring students together for a meaningful cause. Fundraising events included t-shirt sales, a popular pie-in-the-face event, raffle baskets, and a spirited pop tab war (collecting 198 lbs), all of which generated strong participation and enthusiasm throughout the school.
The momentum continued during the Hoops for Homes basketball game against Midland High School. During the game, attendees had the opportunity to support the cause through additional raffle baskets and a bake sale, further contributing to the overall success of the event.
In total, HSHS Gives Back raised $7,568.16 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois. These funds will help provide housing, comfort, and support for families who must travel to receive medical care for their children.
In addition to supporting RMHCCI, the HSHS Gives Back organization and the school community also rallied around a neighboring school in a time of need. Through a 50/50 raffle, Chuck-a-Duck, and concession profits at the Hoops for Homes game, an additional $759.26 was raised for “Community for CaiLynn,” supporting a Midland student who was seriously injured in a car accident.
HSHS Gives Back would like to thank all students, staff, families, and community members who contributed their time, energy, and generosity. We would especially like to thank our event sponsors: LaPrairie Mutual Insurance, Ed Hartwig Trucking and Excavating, GreyBrooke Trucking, The 505 on Edward, Ryan Anderson Law, Dance Central, City of Henry, Swan Lake Duck Club, Knisley Show Pigs, ChooseJoy, Compeer Financial and Mid America National Bank. These events showcased not only the spirit of giving at Henry-Senachwine High School, but also the strength of community when people come together to support others in times of need.
